OUTDOOR LIVING

In addition to the many paver and retaining wall projects that we install for our clients, some have requested the creation of outdoor living space to create a space that makes their home truly their own. This may include an outdoor kitchen with a built-in grill or a fire-pit area for entertaining. Others desire a shade structure to give a sense of enclosure within the space.

Outdoor Kitchens

Outdoor kitchens are one of the items we are routinely asked to provide plans and pricing, either as an addition to an existing project or as a new installation. These projects range from the very modest, such as simple island to house a grill insert or custom built around an existing grill, to the elaborate which may include a bar area for refreshments that can also double as a buffet serving line. Additionally, these projects may include amenities such as electrical work for appliances and storage space for utensils. This space allows our clients to have that special quiet dinner or host a party of friends.

Fire pits

Another item that has gained in popularity is the fire pit. These projects provide the traditional campfire experience feel without the need to travel. They also allow the client to extend the use of their space from early spring through late fall. Fire pits usually have two styles; in-ground or above ground. Most clients with young families prefer the above ground style as it protects small children from having contact with the flames. In-ground fire pits offer the more traditional feel of the outdoors. As there are two styles of fire pits, there are also two types of fuel; gas and wood. Each offers advantages and disadvantages. For example, gas may be more expensive, but is cleaner and faster and leaves very little clean up, whereas wood is more can be more majestic, but requires much more planning and added clean-up.

Shade Structures and Pergolas

Some clients, depending on the size of the outdoor space, desire an area either attached to the house as a permanent structure to give the sense of a room in the home or a designated space built with awnings and/or shade structure (either electric or hand operated). While we do not construct shade structures, as there are modifications that may be needed to the home, we are happy to recommend, as part of our commitment to you, a carpentry contractor for that portion of your project.
