LANDSCAPE DESIGN AND BUILD

Ask three different landscape professionals what makes up a good landscape and you’ll get three different answers.  One may say that variety is important, another consistency, or yet another may say, “Color makes the landscape.”  At Totalscape, we believe one of the most important considerations is what you the homeowner - thinks!   From initial cost to time required for upkeep, we try to personalize each design for each prospective customer.  Most of our customers stress that they want low maintenance, lots of color, and something that will look good during any season.  That’s a pretty tall order when you think about it - but it can be done.  Keep in mind; you and your lifestyle are an important part of the landscape as well.

The Design Process

The process actually starts with your telephone call to us. We try to discuss your initial thoughts and possibly give you some ideas to think about before we make our site visit. At the initial meeting, we reiterate your plans; talk with you about basic design concepts concerning plant materials, ground covers, trees, borders, and anything else that may affect your landscape project. This may include a brick paver patio, outdoor kitchen, fire pit, fireplace as well as walkways or a driveway that may have to be installed during the project or at a later date. If you have a sprinkler system or are planning on having one installed, we are happy to work with your sprinkler system professional or even recommend one to you. Most owners of new homes want a plan that can be implemented over one, two or even three years. Some of our customers just want the front of their house professionally landscaped, saving the rest of the yard for their weekend projects. After our initial site visit, we will have a plan done and ready for your review in about a week. Simple designs or many new construction homes designs can be done right on site. Included with your landscaping plan is a detailed itemization of all work to be completed, cost of labor and materials, and a time estimate to complete the work.

Implementing the Design

While many designs may be completed in one day, the complexity of your project will determine how much time we will need to complete your landscaping project. Keep in mind that once your project is started, it may take several days to be completed. Another time factor that is unpredictable is the weather. We all know that predicting whether the Nebraska Cornhuskers will win another football championship is easier than speculating what the weather will do on any given day in Nebraska. An additional contributing factor is whether we would have to work with any other contractors during the process such as deck builders, sprinkler system installers or sod installers. We may also have to work with your adjoining neighbors if your project may affect them. Transforming a bare yard into the neighborhood showplace is what Totalscape is all about.

After the Sale

We strive to complete each landscape job exactly as promised and all of our work is guaranteed for a period of one year from date of installation. There is usually a minimum of maintenance required during the first year. We will discuss watering and other maintenance items at the time of your site's final inspection. Most of the plant materials we use are very hardy and require very little maintenance. We do offer service after the sale on an annual or semi-annual basis for our customers who don’t feel comfortable doing the pruning and trimming that is required after the first full growing season.
